Italy borders Austria, Switzerland, and France, making travel convenient. It offers plenty of ways to enjoy your free time – coastlines, mountain resorts, and historic cities. Italy has the highest number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, reflecting its wealth of natural and cultural landmarks. The country is famous for refined cuisine and wines, and local markets always offer fresh fruit, vegetables, and seafood. Italians are generally friendly and open, which makes settling in easier.

The Head of the Representative Office (Ufficio di Rappresentanza) obtains a residence permit under the self-employment category (Lavoro Autonomo) for 1 year, as an independent professional.

The permit can then be renewed for 2 years an unlimited number of times. The main part of the process is completed in Italy based on a notarized power of attorney, without the client’s personal presence.

A residence permit is a direct route toward Italian citizenship after 10 years, provided you have legal residence registration in the country. Italy generally allows dual citizenship (depends on the rules of your country of citizenship).
